WF15-Old/New Be True to You
|
This is for djc's Old/New Winterfest challenge.
The image stamp is one of my early, early stamp purchases. It says "Dotty's Darlin's" c1994 Orem, Utah on the side.
Back in the day ... I would have stamped it in black and probably colored it with colored pencils or maybe markers. At Daria's suggestion ... I went to a few stamping blogs and found that one of the new trends seems to be "no line distress watercoloring". I inked the stamp with Archival Watering Can, stamped off on scratch paper and stamped on watercolor paper. I pressed distress ink to an acrylic block and using a wet brush, I watercolored the image. The hair was too fine, so I used a dampened watercolor pencil (brown) to go over the faint lines. I used Golden molding paste through a stencil to add "be true to you". I then added an ombre watercolor wash with distress ink. After the fact, I wish I did the watercolor wash first to keep the lettering whiter, instead I went over the raised lettering with a white marker
