WF16 - Material Girl Challenge (((((Winner Announced!!)))))
« on: January 16, 2016, 09:44:09 AM »
This is an easy challenge with three parts.

1) Material - I want you to add fabric to your card or papercraft project.
The caveat is that I want this to be a fabric that you would not usually use on a card, so no pre-made embellishments or anything like that.  You might want to recycle an old garment or some felt from a kid's project. Use it for your whole background or make an accent.

2) Use stamping on your project.  You can stamp on the fabric, but so long as there is stamping somewhere, it counts.

3) Girl -  Optional - You get a bonus entry if the project is feminine.]

Here is an example:  http://www.duhnproductions.com/Pics/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pid=2318#top_display_media

My material is the fabric flower.  In case you are interested how to make them, you cut any sized circle out of fabric, then you use a needle and thread and cinch middle together.  Let me try to find a tutorial, it is super a super easy thing I have made in the past for sewing projects, but why not cards? http://craftingmom.com/yo-yo-flowers/

There will be a small RAK awarded for this challenge.

New projects only, you may combine, please upload into gallery and assign keyword WF16MG and link to this thread.

Please ask any questions below and have fun!

Interesting challenge.  Your sample is lovely.  I think using the material as a background might be interesting.  I am going to have to think about that one.  Thank you for hosting.

Thanks Heidi!

I bought a book years ago about using fabric on cards and I haven't done it yet.  I just might dig it out!  But then, who doesn't love yo-yo's!
Lots of options here.  I love the sample you made!!

Oh that sounds fun to look at a book like that!

Sadie, I have some fabric out that I wanted to make as the whole background to a card, but I did not have time to do this yet.  Some of the patterned fabrics I have are so pretty!

Great challenge, Heidi! Your card is pretty, did you make the yo yo? My mom has been working for years on a yo yo quilt.

I don't have much fabric but I'm sure I can find something that I can work with. Thanks for hosting :-)

Yes I did make the yo-yo.  They are easy and fun!  I can't imagine making so many of them to make a quilt though!

I probably have enough fabric around to do that though. Lol

I combined this with Impress Me, Stand Tall and Stand Your Ground.

Valentine's Tower

I got out a tea light to curve the edges of the flowers I made with sheer pink fabric.  Here are some close-ups of the flowers.

Daniel, I really like your choice of fabric and how you altered it to make it look very old.  Thanks so much for taking the time to do my challenge!

Yankee, you nailed it!  I was really hoping someone would try to make an embellishment with felt. I want to try to use up some of my felt, but hadn't thought of too many ideas yet.

Thanks for taking my challenge!
