Butterfly Card

butterflycard

This is another sort of artsy background card.  I ran the background through an embossing folder and then painted it rather brightly.  Too brightly so I used a credit card and put some gesso over the top so the background only slightly showed through.  The butterflies and the dragonfly were cut using a die.  I painted and inked the backgrounds of the butterflies and dragonfly before cutting them out.  The dragonfly also has modeling paste using a Tim Holtz stencil.  The flowers are from the flower stash and the enamel butterfly embellishment is one I made.  This card turned out really well after sort of a rough start with the background.

February Birthday Card #1

IMG 0531

Another birthday card.  This one uses patterned paper, Paper Artsy stamps, H2O paint, a white gel pen, stickles, dimension paint, and a few round sparkly jewels.  The happy birthday sentiment is stamped with Tim Holtz stamps.  The banner the happy birthday is on is cut from a Tim Holtz die.  I used a tonic tool to rough up the edges on the triangle before I stamped the stamps.  Then I stamped and painted the flowers on the pink triangle with H2O paint.  This made them shimmery and almost metalic.  I went over the other parts with a white gel pen and then made the dots with blue stickles.  The silver dots are dimensional paint.  The two pink ruffles on the bottom are from a Gossimer Blue kit I got one of the two months I subscribed to their kit.  I thought the Paper Artsy stamps sort of matched the kind of flowers that were in the patterned paper and I painted them a similar color with the H2Os.

Journey Card

I dry embossed the background of this card using a Tim Holtz embossing folder, then I used a brayer and put embossing powder on the raised part of the embossing and heated it with a heat gun.  Then I inked it with a distress ink (I am not sure which color I used, it was a lighter brown).  I did not really like the way it looked and I had just gotten an inca gold gold color so I went aheat and rubbed on some gold.  Then I dry embossed the journey word and cut a banner out.  I used distress ink on the journey word and then the entire banner with more around the edges.  I had a die cut sitting on my craft table so I decided to use that to stamp happy birthday (Tim Holtz words) and cut it into a banner too.  I couldn't decide what color distress ink I had used on the journey banner and I believe I picked the wrong one so nothing really matches on this card, but it seems to "go".  It of course looks better IRL than the picture.
