Journey Card

I dry embossed the background of this card using a Tim Holtz embossing folder, then I used a brayer and put embossing powder on the raised part of the embossing and heated it with a heat gun.  Then I inked it with a distress ink (I am not sure which color I used, it was a lighter brown).  I did not really like the way it looked and I had just gotten an inca gold gold color so I went aheat and rubbed on some gold.  Then I dry embossed the journey word and cut a banner out.  I used distress ink on the journey word and then the entire banner with more around the edges.  I had a die cut sitting on my craft table so I decided to use that to stamp happy birthday (Tim Holtz words) and cut it into a banner too.  I couldn't decide what color distress ink I had used on the journey banner and I believe I picked the wrong one so nothing really matches on this card, but it seems to "go".  It of course looks better IRL than the picture.

Thank you for looking.

Happy Birthday Card

happybirthdaycard

This card was made while I was using different materials for backgrounds.  This background is made using Memento ink pads.  I opened up the ink pads and brushed the ink pad across the plain white card stock.  Then I spritzed with water hoping they would run similar to what distress ink does.  Well it didn't work as well as distress ink does but the colors are bright and airy so I am happy with that.  The banner (or whatever you want to call the white ink embossed piece) was cut using a Fiskar Fuse die and more Memento ink on the embossing part of the die.  Then I stamped the Heidi Swapp happy birthday stamp using the same Momemto ink.

I like this card a lot but it of course has it's flaws.  The ink at the bottom right hand side didn't all disolve or picked up something from the surroundings or something, you can see speckles on the card stock.  After I sprayed the color on the card stock then the paper warped really badly.  I don't notice that distress ink warps the paper this badly.  But anyway I wanted to see if these wonderful colors would work at all in the same way and unfortunitely I could not get them to.

I do think that this is a very useable pretty card even with it's flaws.  Thank you for looking.

Another February 2014 Birthday

This page is another attempt at atsy and it turned out really outragously bright.  I used acrylic paint, acrylic letters, premade chipboard elements, and I just about threw the kitchen sink at the page.  I am not even going to justify what all I did to this page, just look at it and glory in the idea that you would never share this page with the worldwide web like I have done.....LOL!

After I put the pictures on the page it really does look like an 88 birthday celebration but as it sits it doesn't look quite as good.  Anyway here it is another step on my artistic scrapbooking journey.  Aren't you glad you are along on this journey?
